Stunt Dog

It’s high noon on the playground. Lasso Leo stares down the roughest, toughest, highest slide in town. The Silver Chute. Thunk, thunk. His boots go up the ladder. One rung. Two rungs. Cut! Send in Stunt Dog!

The alien landscape is quiet on the first day of school. Lunar Leo surveys the terrain. Suddenly, strange creatures appear from all sides. Leo thinks of a friendly greeting. He takes a deep breath. Cut! Send in Stunt Dog!

The water below is calm. Landlubber Leo shivers on the end of the plank.  “Jump!” snarls the angry crew. He steps forward. Cut! Send in Stunt Dog!

The turrets shine in the distance. Sir Leo the Lionheart approaches the castle, hoping for some bread and ale. All at once a lizard-dragon emerges, planning to make Leo the snack instead. He readies his pencil-lance. Cut! Send in Stunt Dog!

Insects chirp in the hot sun. Land Rover Leo hacks his way through the jungle foliage in search of the ancient tree-house hideaway. It is already inhabited by a clan of strange-looking sisters. Leo peers out from the bushes. He is spotted by their leader. Cut! Send in Stunt Dog!

Pots are bubbling in the laboratory of Mad Science Mom. Lab Rat Leo faces a forkful of her latest brew. Cauliflower Concoction. The fork comes closer. Cut! Send in Stunt Dog!

Wait a minute? Where is Stunt Dog?

“You certainly do have an active imagination, Leo,” says Mom. “But I don’t think Stunt Dog can save you now.”

“I guess even adventurous dogs have their limits,” says Leo. “Oh well. Bring on the cauliflower!”
