The power of books for positive impact and change,
brought to you by Reading Is Fundamental.

A child’s reading journey begins when they are just babies. Early Childhood (birth through age five) is a critical time for children to develop the knowledge and skills needed to ultimately become successful readers and writers. This is the time that babies and toddlers enter the emergent literacy phase which includes reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Some areas of emergent literacy, such as speaking and listening, occur naturally while others, such as reading and writing, require more direct methods. All of these components can be learned through fun and engaging ways!

Reading Is Fundamental is committed to ensuring that every child can read, a mission supported by our Early Childhood Education center. The stories and activities recommended in the Early Childhood collections will help children develop their understanding of themselves and the world while having fun and building their literacy skills, too!
