Thimble Summer

The story of Garnet Linden, who finds a silver thimble in a dried-up riverbed that brings good luck. The drought ends, her family's farm flourishes; the arrival of Eric, an orphan who becomes part of the family; and her pig wins a blue ribbon at the county fair. Garnet is sure the thimble is responsible.
