FOX26 On-Air Personalities Supporting Children's Literacy

Fox 26 News is a local Sinclair Broadcast Group affiliate in Fresno, CA.

FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Statistics show one in three children entering kindergarten lack the basic skills they need to learn to read, and two-thirds of U.S. fourth graders do not read at grade level.

Sinclair, Inc. is partnering with Reading is Fundamental, the nation's leading children's literacy non-profit organization, to help with its efforts to create lifelong readers.

Sinclair will be raising funds to bring books and reading resources to children in communities across the U.S. that need them the most through our Sinclair Cares website throughout the month of March, which is National Reading Month.

The Sinclair Cares: Supporting Children's Literacy campaign will also be supported by a $25,000 donation from Sinclair.

FOX26 supports the Sinclair Cares initiative and some of our on-air personalities visited local elementary schools to read to the children.

FOX26 News reporter Sophia Lesseos read to the children at Quail Lake Environmental Charter School in Clovis and Olmos Elementary School in Fresno.

FOX26 News Anchor Liz Gonzalez read to the children at Wilson Elementary School and Roosevelt Elementary School in Selma.

FOX26 News reporter Mayra Franco read to the children at Madison Elementary School in Madera.

FOX26 News Anchor Rich Rodrigez read to three kindergarten classes at Eaton Elementary School in Fresno. (FOX26)
