Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) is seeking an experienced educational technology professional with a passion for children's literacy. The Product Manager, Digital Products is one-part strategic leader, one-part educational technology expert, and one-part skilled relationship manager. In this capacity, the Product Manager will work with children's literacy experts and advocates at Reading Is Fundamental to ensure a diverse, engaging, stable, and sustainable digital portfolio to support RIF's mission.

The Product Manager will serve as the digital portfolio expert for the organization and is responsible for ensuring a stable, engaging and compelling user experience to support the millions of children and literacy advocates we support every year. The Product Manager is responsible for developing and managing roadmaps to support our digital portfolio, ensuring digital properties are run efficiently and effectively, and delivering integrated digital strategies to promote RIF's literacy mission and implement our vision.

The successful candidate will have experience working in a variety of educational technology platforms and have a proven track record of managing such platforms. The Product Manager will join an innovative team of professionals interested in reaching digital learners and have experience working collaboratively with cross-departmental teams that support a culture of literacy and deliver collective impact.


  • Manage and grow RIF's portfolio of digital properties designed to reach children and literacy advocates in a variety of platforms including:, Literacy Central, Literacy Network, and Skybrary, RIFs consumer and classroom based eBook platform available via iOS and web.
  • Manage RIF's digital portfolio, ensuring an integrated and compelling user experience consistent with RIF's brand.
  • Provide strategic guidance to ensure our digital portfolio remains relevant and adapts to the rapidly changing digital environment.
  • Provide product management/strategic vision and oversight of all digital products in close consultation with engineering team.
  • Keep a current roadmap of all digital development ensuring requirements are properly scoped, prioritized and completed.
  • Manage key deliverables and schedule for digital product portfolio working with key stakeholders.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure RIF's digital portfolio aligns with organizational priorities, market needs, and stakeholder requirements.
  • Manage and evolve the Content Management System (CMS) that supports a portion of RIF's portfolio.
  • Be an advocate for children's literacy by developing relevant digital products that promote and support literacy.
  • Translate business strategy into digital product strategy and ensure seamless, efficient execution.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to build out product content, positioning, and market requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends


  • 7-10 years' experience
  • Strong background in all aspects of product development
  • Strong experience in developing digital products, especially education-focused products
  • Strong experience managing complex vendor relationships
  • Experience managing processes and working with key stakeholders
  • Experience with content management (Drupal preferred)
  • Experience in defining product requirements based on business objectives and stakeholder input.
  • Experience in project budgeting and project management;
  • Experience in K-12 education or consumer-based children's products.


Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.


  • Strong project management skills to manage projects and teams from concept to tracking.
  • Able to manage multiple projects through cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and external vendors.


This position is based in Washington, DC with a hybrid work schedule of three days in office and Wednesday and Friday work from home.
