Jack is a Financial Services Chief Executive Officer recognized for numerous industry firsts. A seasoned change agent, he innovates strategically and operationally, yielding sustainable growth, enhanced profitability, and greater shareholder value. He finds ways to solve the most complex organizational challenges with integrity and a balanced commitment to shareholders and employees.

Most recently, Jack was President and CEO of Navient Corporation, where he implemented a transformational strategy focused on student loan refinancing and business processing solutions. From May 2013 through April 2014, Jack was President and Chief Executive officer of Sallie Mae, where he led the company through its strategic separation into two businesses, resulting in the creation of Navient, where Jack served as its first CEO. Between 2008 and 2013, Jack held various executive leadership roles at Sallie Mae, including Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Jack first joined Sallie Mae in 1999 and was a key player in the company’s transformation from a government-sponsored entity to an independent, publicly-traded company.

Previously, Jack was portfolio manager at PAR Capital Management and CFO at Nellie Mae. He started his career at BayBank.

Jack holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Connecticut College. In addition to his service on the Board of Directors of Navient and SLM Corporation, Jack currently sits on the Boards of CubeSmart (NYSE: CUBE) as Audit Committee Chair, is Board Chair of Reading is Fundamental, and is a Board Member of the Nellie Mae Education Foundation. Jack is also an active philanthropist, particularly focused on early education for under-resourced communities.
