Ernestine Walls Benedict
Vice President, Marketing and Communications
In September 2008, Ernestine Walls Benedict was named RIF's vice president of marketing and communications. In this role, she directs all strategic communications and brand management efforts.
She previously served as RIF's director of online communications, creating and launching Leading to Reading, RIF's award-winning website for young children. She brings more than 10 years of experience in marketing strategy and communications across multiple industries, including nonprofit, arts and culture, and technology.
Prior to joining RIF, Ernestine served as director of marketing at Proverb, a branding and design consultancy in Boston, where she developed integrated marketing plans for a broad client base. She also served as interim director of marketing at the Massachusetts Horticultural Society.
Ernestine began her marketing career in Silicon Valley, where she led development, sales, and marketing efforts for web-hosted business applications at Broadband Office (BBO). Prior to BBO, she was a marketing manager at Netscape Communications within the Strategic Planning, iPlanet, and Netscape.com divisions.
Ernestine graduated from Temple University with a bachelor's degree in finance. She is also a member of the American Marketing Association. She resides in Washington, D.C., with her husband, Stephen.
